Why Sailing?
Sailing is ever growing in popularity the world over.  It offers excitement, energy and a great opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  A sailing regatta is a truly unique spectacle and guarantees a fun and rewarding afternoon for all those involved.

I’ve never sailed before, how can I be expected to race?
You do not need to know how to sail – in fact you need never have stepped on a yacht before.  Sailing is surprisingly easy to learn and the basic principles can be picked up in a single afternoon.  Every boat will have a trained and highly qualified instructor who is well capable of sailing the boat alone.  All our team members have many years’ experience instructing the sport and are passionate about passing on their skills to others.  During the regatta we will first have a 40 minute learn to sail session in which your instructor will teach you how to sail the boat as efficiently as possible.  We all learn at different speeds but we are confident by the end of our regatta you will have an improved wind awareness and a good knowledge of the basic principles of sailing.  As a team you will be sailing the boat with minimal help from the Aquasail crew.

Will we capsize?
All our yachts are self-righting with heavy ballast keels.  This means there is no possibility of them ever capsizing.  A sail boats will heel at an angle when there’s strong wind but that’s perfectly normal and all just part of the fun.

I can’t swim, is it still possible for me to sail?
You do not need to know how to swim.  The yachts which are used for our regatta programs are fitted with all necessary safety railings making falling overboard extremely unlikely.  Everybody who sails with us is required to wear an ISAF certified lifejacket. 

Do I need to be really fit?
The yachts you will be sailing in are designed for racing but are also very comfortable.  During the regatta you may choose to be as active or relaxed as you like.  Our regatta experience is well proven in delivering an exciting and comfortable experience for people of all different fitness levels.  Providing you are happy getting on and off and moving around the boat, you will have no problems coming for our sailing regatta.

What shall I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothes for the regatta.  There is no need for swimwear as the boats are large and stable and you won’t get very wet.  There is a chance of some spray if there is good wind on the day but only light.  Wear comfortable shoes as you will be moving around the boat and for getting on and off.  Sunglasses and a hat are also recommended.

Is it safe?
It is very safe.  All our staff are highly trained and experienced having taught and competed in sailing for many years.  We pride ourselves on our operational standards and all our equipment and procedures are to international standards.  The boats are extremely safe and ideal for teaching beginners as well as racing and no compromise is made in regards to safety.
